Ernie Irvan inducted into Stock Car Racing Hall of Fame 

Ernie was honored as an inductee into the Stock Car Hall of Fame at the 13th Annual Induction Ceremony, which took place on February 11, 2002 at the Daytona Beach Hilton, Ernie was honored as well as Dr. Joe and Dr. Rose Mattioli, owners of Pocono Raceway. Former inductees include Richard Petty, Bobby Allison, Junior Johnson, Cale Yarborough, Darrell Waltrip, Benny Parsons, Buddy Baker, Harry Gant, and Bill France, Jr.

Benny Parsons  introduced Ernie during the ceremony that included a cocktail hour and a dinner. Admission to the event, was is open to the public, at $85 (cocktail hour and dinner). Proceeds benefit three local charities in the Daytona Beach area - The Sheriff's Youth Ranch, 100 Deputies for 100 Kids, and the Association for Retarded Citizens.
